Helping those on a journey with Dyslexia...
...because GREAT MINDS think differently!

When you are dyslexic, education can look very different. As a dyslexia consultant and Orton-Gillingham based reading instructor, I will walk with your family, helping to guide your journey as you determine the next best step with dyslexia.
A complimentary consultation to discuss dyslexia and your learner's specific struggles and needs is available on site or via phone. At the end of this initial consultation, we will discuss options for your unique learner's next, best step.
If determined to be an appropriate fit, I offer one-on-one Orton-Gillingham based instruction that focuses on reading and spelling. Each instructional session is diagnostic and prescriptive, designed specifically for your learner. A minimum commitment of two 50 minute sessions per week is required for optimal results.

Having received my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, I am a former classroom teacher of 9 years. I left the traditional classroom and now my educational focus is on helping those who struggle with dyslexia. My Orton-Gillingham training was established through the Dyslexia Training Institute where I received a Dyslexia Certificate. Additional certifications include Barton Dyslexia Screener, Intermediate Orton-Gillingham training per the Institute for Multi Sensory Education, and most recently, structured linguistic literacy certification in Phono-graphix. When working one-on-one with clients, my teaching strategies are based on the Science of Reading and using structured literacy as a pathway to success.
I am a member of various professional organizations including Decoding Dyslexia Wisconsin (DD-WI), and the International Dyslexia Association (IDA). With dyslexia legislation unfolding in my home state of Wisconsin, our family has traveled to the Capitol to support and testify in favor of dyslexia legislation. Professional conferences and webinars are continual sources of learning and professional growth.
When I'm not working with clients, I enjoy spending time with my husband and 4 children, whose varied interests fill our lives with sports, music, theater, and equestrian events. If I have a quiet moment to myself, you're apt to find me baking or practicing yoga.
"The professional development on dyslexia by Tracy Maxwell opened my eyes and the eyes of our teachers about the different ways our students' brains work and interact with the curriculum. Universally, the feedback from our teachers was positive and they expressed they found significant value in learning how to adjust tasks and pedagogy to be more inclusive for all students."
-Christopher Koeppen, Principal
"Jacob started working with Tracy this past October. Within one week of working 1 on 1 with her we noticed a huge change in him. His confidence level went up and he doesn't avoid reading as much. His time with her twice a week is the only work at school he doesn't complain about. He now comes home and actually WANTS to read to us. That has never happened until now!"
-Angela, parent
"Myself and several of my staff have attended Tracy's presentations and we all left feeling very informed. The information was eye opening and my teachers were excited to share what they learned with their colleagues."
-Christine Brown, Director of Pupil Services
I understand that each student's situation and needs are unique to them. Tell me more about what you're looking for, and I will get back to you soon with some ideas.
